Discover Wild Aldhurst - Leiston's New Nature Reserve - A Haven for Wildlife - Just a Short Walk from the Town Centre
The fifth day of the UK’s longest-running and most prestigious international cycle race – The Tour of Britain – will be passing through Leiston Suffolk on Thursday 7 September 2023.
The Tour of Britain was last in Suffolk in 2017 – in 2023, Leiston will be on the menu in more ways than one!
Last time the event came to Suffolk, pubs, restaurants, hotels and a host of Suffolk eating establishments created tour-themed menus, cycling-themed dishes and events to coincide with the Tour’s local arrival – this year, Leiston will be joining in the celebrations at every delicious level.
The cyclists will be touching Leiston in a section of the latter part of their day’s route from Saxmundham towards Woodbridge, Martlesham and finally, Felixstowe.
Stage 5 of the iconic cycle race route will start and finish in Felixstowe and weave its way through parts of East, South and Mid Suffolk and the heart of the county’s countryside before an exhilarating finish in the shadows of Felixstowe’s pier and world-famous port.
Find your perfect viewing spot in and around Leiston to catch some of the action and cheer the riders through – and check out what tasty cycling themed specials Leiston’s local shops, cafés, pubs, community groups and businesses have to share as part of the celebrations.
The peloton’s day starts by making its way through Ipswich, along the Shotley Peninsular and the Royal Hospital School, through Constable Country towards Needham Market, Debenham and Stowmarket before reaching Framlingham.
It’s free to join in with Taste of the Tour so if your business or group has a mouth-watering special, an offer for visitors or an event with a cycling theme, get it shouted about through Suffolk’s network for the event.
