Leiston Wartime Memories

War Time Memories

Leiston and Sizewell’s Wartime Memories

A community project as part of Leiston’s commemorations
to mark 80 years since the end of World War II.
Help preserve the past and honour those generations.

There’s still plenty of time to make a contribution to the history project. Do you have a relative or friend who served in World War I or II? Were they in the Home Guard, a reserved occupation or the Women’s Voluntary Services? Perhaps you were a child growing up in wartime. What was life like then?

Another ‘Drop In and Chat’ morning is planned for mid September, please come along to the United Church in Leiston High Street (more details to follow).

On Saturday November 15th, the week after Remembrance Sunday, there will be an Open Day at Leiston United Church to show the finished work to date. There’s also a display planned of WWII Home Front artefacts and memorabilia.

Everyone is welcome, free entry with tea and coffee available, 12 – 5 pm.

Please email me with any questions: history@leiston.info

There’s more information about the project at www.leiston.info, and leaflets in Leiston Library in the Old Post Office Square.
You can also leave contributions there, or
with the Council Offices next door, or email them.
