YANA – help for those involved in farming and other rural businesses affected by stress and depression

Farming or working in the countryside is usually a good way of life but it is a demanding and stressful occupation. So, it’s not surprising that many people involved with agriculture can feel isolated, depressed or unable to cope as well as normal.

1 in 4 people in the UK will experience poor mental health so it is important to know that you, or the person you are concerned about, are not alone.

YANA: You Are Not Alone – Rural Mental Health Support (yanahelp.org)

Farming Community Network – nationwide. Again have a helpline, provide some business advice as well as physical and mental health advice https://fcn.org.uk/

RABI – nationwide. Set up to provide short term financial support to farmers and rural business, particularly in the case of bereavement  or crisis. Now also have a mental health training and counselling service. https://rabi.org.uk/

There is also a rural chaplain for Suffolk. Rural Chaplains are excellent contacts as there is still a very strong link between farmers and the church in more isolated areas. https://www.lightwave.community/rural-chaplaincy
